March 17, 2020

The health, safety and welfare of our property owners, residents, commercial owners, visitors and employees is the top priority for the Tellico Village Property Owners Association. Like many of you, we have been monitoring the ongoing news related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and will keep you informed of the steps we are taking. Currently, we are not aware of any cases in Loudon, Monroe, or Blount counties.

TVPOA is following local, state, and national healthcare expert guidance and recommendations. These guidelines are changing rapidly. Please click here to read the current guidelines to help lessen the spread of COVID-19. Along with rigorous hand washing and frequent disinfecting, it is important to keep a 6-foot distance from other people.

*If you are sick or experiencing flu symptoms, shortness of breath or any serious infection or virus, please stay home to avoid exposing others. If you have traveled outside of this area, you are advised to self-quarantine for 7-14 days. Please click here for more information.

Based on the newest CDC recommendations, no group/activity of 10 people or more will be permitted to meet in POA facilities. This includes group fitness activities, social groups, classes, and golf leagues. This will go into effect tomorrow, March 18th and will remain in effect until April 1st, at which time we will re-evaluate the situation.

Other new changes to help promote the 6-foot separation and the 10 people or less guidelines are as follows:

March 18th Board Meeting:

This Board meeting will be closed to the public. The meeting will be recorded and posted to the POA website’s Board page as soon as possible.

Recreation:

Group fitness classes will be suspended for the next 2 weeks. The following are free online fitness recommendations from our Recreation Department:

Pilates

Yoga / Yoga/Pilates Fusion

Cardio

The fitness room currently remains open to those who are not displaying COVID-19 symptoms such as coughing, fever and shortness of breath.. To maintain a 6-foot separation, every other machine has been taken out of service and the maximum number of people allowed inside the fitness room has been reduced. The saunas are not operational. The pool is open for individual swim only.

We advise using your personal discretion when deciding whether to use the recreation facilities. If visiting our facilities, we ask you to do the following:

  • maintain a 6-foot distance at all times,
  • wipe equipment before and after use, and
  • visit at non-peak times.

We’d like to remind you that this is a great opportunity to exercise outdoors. The paved walking trail around the Wellness Center is open. We also have 15 miles of hiking trails throughout the Village, 10 miles of which conveniently begin from the Wellness Center parking lot.

Food Service:

To help support our Tellico Village residents and offer some additional services to help us through our current situation, AWE Hospitality is offering the following:

Residents will not need to get out of their cars to pick up their food. As a perk, when you place a to-go order, you will receive a VIP card for buy 6 get the 7th order free (only available for takeout and curbside orders).

All 4 restaurants will also begin delivery service in the Tellico Village community. However, Kahite Pub & Grill will only deliver to the Kahite neighborhood. Delivery service is available for lunch and dinner depending on each restaurant’s current hours of operation.

For dine-in guests, all facilities have implemented the following measures to promote a 6-foot separation:

  • Every other table will be unset with chairs on the table and cannot for any reason be used for seating.
  • No groups of 10 or more will be seated together.
  • No parties or gatherings of any kind with more than 10 people can occur inside our facilities until further notice.

In addition to these precautionary measures, Food Service staff has been instructed to continue these safety protocols, in addition to enhanced cleaning:

  • All employees must sanitize or wash their hands before using the point-of-sale systems
  • Shared keyboards must be wiped down between users.

AWE Hospitality and TVPOA are taking these guidelines seriously and strive to keep our guests and employees safe while continuing to provide services to our community.

Golf:

Golf is an individual, non-contact sport where social distancing is attainable without disrupting the overall golf experience. As outdoor activities are preferred in such situations, golf courses currently remain open to those who are not displaying COVID-19 symptoms such as coughing, fever and shortness of breath.

Current precautionary measures include:

  • Offer electronic check-in (please click here for instructions)
  • Communications and signage asking folks with any symptoms to stay away and self-quarantine themselves
  • Routine disinfectant cleaning of all high-contact golf shop surfaces including doorknobs, counters, etc.
  • Routine disinfectant cleaning of all high-contact golf cart surfaces including steering wheels, etc.
  • Provide hand sanitizer at our counters for use before and after transactions
  • Provide gloves for our staff
  • Allow solo golf carts (while supplies last)
  • Discontinue the use of water coolers

Please click here to view Social Distancing Golf Tips from our Golf Department.

League play, large tournaments, and large groups have been suspended for the next 2 weeks.

While golf is not immune, we believe if we take the appropriate precautions, it can serve as an escape and safe haven for folks to get out and enjoy the great outdoors during this time.

Communications:

Our goal is to be proactive and help limit exposure. As you know, this situation is changing rapidly. Updates will be communicated as needed through the Tell-E-Gram/Tell-E-Flash. Please click here to sign up to receive these communications.
