Proposed Tellico Village Road Projects – the following are projects desired by TVPOA but are not currently an active project with TDOT due to either availability of funding and/or TDOT safety priority status.
- Mialaqua / Cheeyo roundabout
- Warranted by TDOT for a roundabout but not currently an active TDOT project. TN is a pay as you go state and currently there is no funding for this project.
- This intersection is currently on the Spot Safety Projects list coming from Region 1 (East TN) to TDOT Statewide.
- Potential Funding Options being explored by HiAC:
- Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) through TDOT. This funding needs to be confirmed with Loudon County Commissioners.
- Money from federal government as a Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) – need to explore with TDOT pending the STBG.
- Statewide Partnership Program – funding opportunities will open again summer 2025.
- Private Donations (business and individual).
- Sequoyah / Maple Hill – Roundabout. Warranted by TDOT but currently not funded due to low accident rates.
- SR-72 / SR-444 – Traffic Light. Warranted by TDOT but currently not funded due to low accident rates.
- Improved Traffic Light at 444/Chota/Toqua. Updated with improved sensors for better traffic control. HiAC working with Loudon County Highway Dept but subject to them obtaining grant.
